Introduction to Clostridium perfringens (cells & spores) in milk (RM-CP veg)
The Reference Material Clostridium perfringens (RM-CP veg) in milk matrix contains WDCM00007, NCCB 100298 Clostridium perfringens and can be used as first line control of microbial analysis for the enumeration of Clostridium perfringens, validation studies, media control and learning purposes.
Clostridium perfringens is a Gram-positive, rod shaped anaerobic bacterium. This bacterium is ever-present in nature and can be found in decaying vegetation as well as the intestinal tract of vertebrates. It is a common cause for foodborne illnesses.
RM-CP veg can be used for different methods, for example:
ISO 7937 Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs - Horizontal method for thee enumeration of Clostridium perfringens – Colony-count technique
ISO 11133 Microbiology of food, animal feed and water - Preparation, production, storage and performance testing of culture media
NEN 6603 Environment and food – Internal quality control by the use of control charts with chemical and microbiological
Results from the detection method (present or absent) as well as the results of counts on agar plates can be plotted in the BiosistoChart according to NEN 6603.
