Introduction to Penicillium aurantiogriseum in milk (CRM-PAU)
The Certified Reference Material Penicillium aurantiogriseum (CRM-PAU) in milk matrix contains CBS 792.95 Penicillium aurantiogriseum and can be used as first line control of microbial analysis for the enumeration of moulds, validation studies, media control and learning purposes.
Penicillium aurantiogriseum is an ascomycetous and endophytic fungus that can be found in a wide variety of environments including food such as vegetables, bread and specialty cheeses. This mould is also able to produce penicillin.
CRM-PAU can be used for different methods, for example:
ISO 21527-1 Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs - Horizontal method for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds
Part 1: Colony count technique in products with water activity greater than 0,95
ISO 6611 Milk and milk products - Enumeration of colony-forming units of yeasts and/or moulds - Colony-count technique at 25°C
ISO 11133 Microbiology of food, animal feed and water - Preparation, production, storage and performance testing of culture media
NEN 6603 Environment and food – Internal quality control by the use of control charts with chemical and microbiological analyses
Results from the detection method (present or absent) as well as the results of counts on agar plates can be plotted in the BiosistoChart according to NEN 6603.
