Introduction to Pseudomonas aeruginosa in milk (RM-PA)

The Reference Material Pseudomonas aeruginosa (RM-PA) in milk matrix contains NCCB 100424, and can be used as first line control of microbial analysis for Pseuodomonas aeruginosa, validation studies, media control and learning purposes.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a Gram-negative, rod shaped bacterium with flagella. This bacterium is commonly found soil and water, but is also found in contaminated food including dairy and meat products. It is an opportunistic pathogen, able to cause severe airway inflammatory responses.

RM-PA can be used for different methods, for example:

ISO 13720  Meat and meat products – Enumeration of presumptive Pseudomonas spp

ISO 11059   Milk and milk products – Method for the enumeration of Pseudomonas spp

NEN 6603   Environment and food – Internal quality control by the use of control charts with chemical and microbiological analyses

Results from the detection method (present or absent) as well as the results of counts on agar plates can be plotted in the BiosistoChart according to NEN 6603.
