Introduction to Salmonella Agona in milk (CRM-SAG)
The Certified Reference Material Salmonella Agona (CRM-SAG) in milk matrix contains NCCB 100283 Salmonella enterica subsp enterica serotype agona and can be used as quality control, validation studies, media control and learning purposes.
Salmonella Agona is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped and facultative anaerobic bacterium. This bacterium is commonly found in the environment and in warm-blooded organisms and can cause salmonellosis infection.
CRM-SAG can be used for different methods, for example:
ISO 6579 Microbiology of the food chain - Horizontal method for the detection, enumeration and serotyping of Salmonella spp.
NEN 6603 Environment and food – Internal quality control by the use of control charts with chemical and microbiological
Results from the detection method (present or absent) as well as the results of counts on agar plates can be plotted in the BiosistoChart according to NEN 6603.
Regulation 2073/2005 lays down microbiological criteria for various combinations of food commodities and microorganisms, their toxins or metabolites. The Regulation differentiates microbiological criteria into Process hygiene and Food safety criteria. Both criteria are applicable to Salmonella species.
